It was a mutual friend’s wedding – they were both in the wedding party, when they walked down the aisle before their friends, they had no idea they would soon be repeating the same act except this time it was to be their own wedding. Somehow afterward they ended up at the same table, at some point they ended up exchanging names and swapping tales of their mutual friend, as each tale grew funnier, they grew more comfortable, they both felt like they had known one another for ages. At some time during the night they both realized they had found something special deep in the hearts of one another.
As they exchanged numbers they both knew they would be hearing from the other. As phone calls led to dates and dates led to a blossoming relationship, it became definite in Dimeji’s mind, Ukpe was ” THE ONE”. Dimeji bought the ring two months before he proposed. He spent nerve-racking months on his knees confirming everything with God and also trying to find the perfect time to surprise her. Finally he made dinner plans at an Italian Restaurant where he made plans to propose the highlight of the proposal was for the ring to appear mysteriously in her dessert.
Well even in the middle of winter, Dimeji could not stop sweating, his nerves made it difficult to complete his entree, but still he signaled for “The Dessert” unfortunately the manager who had the ring was not on the floor and another waiter ended up bringing their desert. Dimeji still kept trying to look out for the manager, while his eyes were scanning the dimly lit floor, he heard Ukpe screaming with her hands over her mouth, staring at the plate with widened eyes. Well there was nothing left for him to do than to go on his knees to propose.
Thankfully, she said yes and Aba and I ended up photographing their precious and beautiful wedding. We pray for peace, fruitfulness and endless joy in their household and that we will have many more reasons to celebrate with Ukpe and Dimeji.
